Colections

The Library has its provisional headquarters in a four-storey building with a total area of 3,305 m².

The distribution of the library by floor is as follows:

Ground floor: this is where the concierge or reception area is located and where the deposits containing the library's reserve collection are kept.

Second floor: on this floor there are 5 different spaces:

1. Loan room: it has 23,000 volumes in free access, including the collection of audio-visual materials, the multicultural collection and the "Accessible Library" collection. In the room itself there are computers for consulting the library catalogue and the Andalusian Public Reading Network

2. Loan and Consultation Room: consists of 126 reading posts and 4,500 direct access volumes on narrative, theatre, poetry, the local background section and basic reference works. In this same room, there is the Newspaper Library, with 25 reading posts, 10-12 titles of newspapers and about 50 titles of weeklies and magazines, which are renewed according to their periodicity. The room also has 10 public access points and free Internet access for adult users.

3. Children¿s and Young People¿s Room: aimed at children and young people from 0 to 18 years old. It has 78 reading posts and some 12,000 volumes in free access, including a collection of audio-visual materials. In this room there are computers for consulting the library catalogues and the Andalusian Public Reading Network, as well as for accessing the Internet consultation service and other multimedia content for underage users. In this room, reading activities for children and workshops for the whole family are held.

4. Information Office: where the information and reference service is offered.

5. Training room: a room equipped to give training courses.

6. Loan Counter: where the loan transaction and the return of our lending library material are made.

There is a self-service photocopying machine in front of the loan counter.


 

This floor: with these differentiated spaces:

1. Exhibition Hall: Ricardo Orueta, which houses temporary exhibitions of local artists and of the non-presentable works from our collection that are part of the bibliographic heritage.

2. Study Room: which has a study space for 72 people, away from the noise generated by the movement of the 2nd floor.

3. Auditorium, with a capacity for 126 people, where lectures, talks and books are given or presented.

4. Rooms for workshops and book clubs, upon request.

5. Internal work offices, both administrative and technical.
